This blood pressure monitor is great. It is handy and compact, perfect for travelling. My friend saw mine and got me to order one for him as well. Very happy.
I am more than pleased with this little machine. I have checked its readings against that of an upper arm type machine and against my doctor's digital machine and all fall within the same range. Just remember to elevate the wrist onto which you have attached the machine so that it sits level with the upper section of the heart and do not wriggle your arm around or you will get some very odd readings indeed. My doctor was quite happy for me to check my BP using this machine.
I am very impressed with this unit and the price I paid. I am a nurse and do regularly get my BP checked at work, but bought this so my husband could monitor his at home. It is easy to use, I dont have any reason to query the resuilts as the the readings that I get on myself, are within the same range that I get at work. I think this is an accurate, and easy unit, and would reccommend it.
Either I'm going to die, or this thing is inaccurate. One reading was 100 points above doctor's reading. Fiddly and won't read well if not positioned properly. No 2 readings alike. Maybe I got a dud, but wouldn't recommend. Go to the doc instead, or get a chemist to do it for you. Saves stress
There have been many "expert" reviews on this product and several have criticised this product's accurcay. I bought one for an overseas trip, but before deciding to rely on it, I took several readings over several days and did so at the same time as taking readings with a conventional (expensive) Omron upper-arm-cuff type BPM. It is true that this little (Andon) device will give you wildly inaccurate readings unless you are very careful to use it properly. The height of your wrist (with cuff attached) should be level with your upper arm. I find by keeping it at the level of a little higher than half way up the upper arm will always give perfect readings (presuming my Omron 'reference' BPM is also capable of perfect readings). So, go ahead and buy this monitor, secure in the knowledge that it will give you accurate readings, provided you ignore the instructions that came with it and use it as described above.
As an overweight person who is exercising to get back in shape, I worry sometimes about what's going on inside. With this item handy, I can check my blood pressure any time simply by putting it on my wrist and within half a minute I know what sort of shape I am in. I use it every day, first thing in the morning and any time I'm exercising. Take it with you to the gym to help start up conversations; offer to help others check their conditioning. Many uses... It is small enough to carry around, and because I can keep an eye on by blood pressure and my heart rate, I have peace of mind at all times. It also has a memory feature which I use to show my doctor my various readings. This item is great.
This is a great little BPM. I suffer from *white coat syndrome* and readings taken at my Dr's clinic, are like yoyos. Even a 24hr monitor had yoyo readings. This one I can do for myself, and give my GP the readings he wants just by handing it over to him. Peace of mind. I am now coming off the blood pressure pills BTW . . . I didn't really need them.
This is my 3rd BP machine and the 2nd to read from the wrist area. My experience so far is that it is convenient to use. It provides reproducible results which are close to the doctor's results in his surgery if you pay attention to - 1: Proper placement on the inside of the wrist just off the wrist bones. 2: keeping the wrist at the same height or level as the regular upper-arm cuff placement would be at the time of reading.
Getting the placement right can take practise. Wrong placement can produce erratic or wildly incorrect readings.
I AM A NURSE ON HOLIDAY, AND CAN'T WAIT TO GET BACK TO THE HOSPITAL TO CHECK THIS UNIT OUT AGAINST A HOSPITAL MACHINE, THE PRODUCT PICTURE IS SO DECEPTIVE TO ANYONE NOT BEING FAMILIAR WITH BLOOD PRESSURE MONITERING, AND GIVES A WILDLY UNRELIABLE READING IF TAKING THE READING WITH THE MONITOR ON TOP OF THE WRIST. I AGREE WITH THE PERSON WHO SAID THE READINGS VARIED WHEN TAKEN SECONDS AFTER THE PREVIOUS READINGS. FOR ME WITH A GOOD PRESSURE OF 120 ON 80 ( A DOCTORS DELIGHT) BEING MY USUAL BP READING, THE MONITOR USUALLY MEASURES MY PRESSURE AS BEING LOWER THAN THAT, THOUGH WHEN I WAS STRESSING OFF MY FACE OVER SOMETHING FOR A FEW HOURS, THE READING WAS MUCH HIGHER, SO AS I PREVJOUSLY SAID, WILL TRY IT AGAINST A HOSPITAL MACHINE.
