Great fun to use, and so easy
This product was so quick and easy, only had to buy an SD card, then from there scan away. After scanning placed SD card into Apple computer, & bingo my photos on iPhoto, al little cropping and then perfect.

Hopeless product
The quality of the images produced are simply awful. The product is absolutely useless!

Average
I have had a Kaiser Baas PhotoMaker negative and slide scanner (about $100) for a year, but liked the idea of the Otek 3 in one as it offered the added facility of the photo scanner. They both claim to be 5 Mpixel, however the quality of the photos in the Otek is lower than the Kaiser Baas. There is a "resolution" button where you can change from 5M to 10M (which I assume is supposed to be 5 Mpixel to 10Mpixel), but all this does is change the resultant file size from about 720 kb to 800 kb. It is easy to use and produces ok results, but I was a bit disappointed with the output quality.

Otek PS970 photo and slide scanner
For a year I have been using a previous model of Otek slide scanner as I have many years of gradually deteriorating slides. It did the job but the scanned slide required a considerable amount of work in Photoshop.
I upgraded to the three in one Otek scanner and I have nothing but praise for the product. The TFT image is significantly better than the earlier model and the scanned slide requires considerably less work.
Definately recommend this device if you want to digitise your slides or negs.

Best $150 I've ever spent!
After much consideration and research, I bought this product and couldn't be happier. It scans SLIDES as well as photos and negatives. Many other products on the market only do two media types, not all three like this one. The instructions weren't the best (definitely not translated by somebody whose first language is English!), but after a few mins fiddling around I managed to work out how to use it no problems. I've only used it for slides so far but I'm very impressed with the results.

Love it! Best device I've bought in years!
I've been searching for an easy way to turn my old negatives & photos into digital format for 2 months now and am so happy with my purchase.
I have 2 multi function printers but I'm not good at scanning photos into folders and the scanner takes so long to scan 1 photo.
This Otek scanner is a beauty! Scans photos & negs in about 1 second & is so easy to use. Just load the photo or Neg (or slide) hit the "scan" button then press "enter" a second or 2 later & it's on your memory card & you can move onto the next one!
I think you can scan straight into your computer but as I hate to read instructions (unless I have to) I started straight off by saving to my XD card (takes SD/XD/MMC/MS/MS-pro also) then uploading to my laptop
Scans slides too but as I don't have any slides I won't comment on that function, but I would assume it takes the same time.
It's light weight, powered by USB so no bulky power packs. It does come with a USB adapter plug so you can plug it into a power point (so no computer is needed if you don't have one) but I run it through my laptop directly into the USB.
The color LCD screen is great too so you can choose what pics you want to save or just move onto the next one if it's a dud pic (negs are hard to see up to the light).
I would say the ONLY issue I had is that the frame of the photo loader does come up in the scanned pic, but that is easily fixed during the editing process (scanned negatives don't scan the neg holder, only seems to be the photo holder) You DO NOT need to edit if you don't want to but I like to crop out the bits that 35mm cameras always seem to get in the background. I use Picasa software by Google which is an awesome free programme and it crops in seconds.
I'm very fussy with my photos and am pretty happy with the results, I'm just happy to get all my oldies onto my computer without spending up to $1000 or more on a top notch scanner (even then I don't know what the scan time is & lets face it, who has the time to wait for the scanner to heat up!)
Note that finger prints on photos & negs will effect the photo but I spose that would happen with ANY scanner.
I hope this review has helped :-)
